For When You Feel Out of Place on Mother’s Day
To all my bereaved and brokenhearted beloveds who struggle on Mother’s Day, I see you.
I hold you and your pain in a sacred place in my heart.
Although your motherhood story hasn’t come together like you planned, you’re still a mother to the baby/babies you’ve lost, and the ones you continue to pray for.
Seeing the Mother’s Day reminders can sting. And that’s understandable. They remind you of your loss and the baby/babies you don’t hold in your arms.
This day would be colored differently if things had unfolded the way you envisioned. The reality of that sucks!
Please be gentle with yourself on Mother’s Day.
Curl up in a blanket and cry if you need to. Avoid all the cheery Mother’s Day messages on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram.
Maybe call a close friend who will hold loving space for you. Gaze at the stars and talk to the babies you’ve lost.
And, if it hurts too much to attend church or family outings, it may be best to skip this week.
Whatever feelings this day stirs up for you, please know that they are legitimately yours, and that makes them valid.
My dear, know that you’re not alone, and I am holding you in my heart this Mother’s Day!
