45% of Americans make New Year’s resolutions.
And a meager 8% of those folks are successful in fulfilling their resolutions.
Whenever I see stats like this, it’s the hidden numbers that I wonder about.
Like, what’s going on with the 37% who were unsuccessful in meeting their goals? What threw them off track? Did they have solid emotional support, or an accountability plan in place?
And, what about the 55% of non-resolution makers? Do they wait to set their goals for later in the year?
Resolutions or not, the new year beckons us to embrace new beginnings and change. And when embarking on a new journey, it’s only fitting that you’re intentional about how you’d like to travel and spend your time.
You may desire to be more joyful. Or, stop and smell the roses a bit more. Maybe you wish to practice serenity and acceptance?
When you set intentions, it creates meaning. And when your life has meaning, you feel more fulfilled and whole (like being at peace with yourself), which is what we’re after anyway when we set resolutions and goals.
